In meeting the needs of one of the State's fastest-growing regional areas, Wide Bay Water Corporation has devised and implemented a series of integrated programs which have resulted in Australia's first ecologically sustainable water and wastewater network. (read more)
Wide Bay Water Corporation is renowned for its award-winning approach to wastewater management. In the 1990’s the organisation devised a highly effective effluent reuse scheme that now enables up to 100% of the city’s effluent to be re-used by turf farms, sugar farms and other rural industries.
This cutting edge approach to re-using wastewater on land has eliminated the need for ocean outfall, ensuring protection of the bay and the ongoing prosperity of the local tourism industry. (read more)
Services range from simple, low-cost surge analyses to detailed studies of pipelines, pumped networks and open channels. In-depth appraisals of raw water, treated water and effluent systems are undertaken, encompassing preliminary design through to optimisation of hydraulic components. (read more)
Wide Bay Water Corporation’s Leakage Management Unit has been specially set up to prepare strategy to evaluate Water Distribution Systems and to conduct an assessment of water losses, efficiency issues and the development of implementation strategies for a water demand management program. Wide Bay Water Corporation has developed an environmental laboratory to provide monitoring and control services to the local community. The laboratory was NATA accredited in Chemistry in August of 2001. This facility presently carries out the monitoring of the operational performance of a number of internal and external treatment and distribution systems within the Wide Bay area. The laboratory is recognised by the EPA as being the only facility within the area in a position to provide licence monitoring. (read more)
Wide Bay Water Corporation's Closed Circuit TV uses state of the art equipment to locate sewer pipeline faults such as mis-aligned pipes, cracks, tree roots. Early detection can prevent overflows and save money. The Unit is also used to investigate the integrity of stormwater pipelines. (read more)
While public safety issues such as fire fighting - with specific laws and design criteria, as well as customer service concerns are key components to determining the pressure/s of a distribution system, pressure management is also an effective way to control the amount of water lost in a system. This can be implemented without effecting service levels when activated during low demand periods such as late night and early morning. It can also reduce consumption in networks with no intermediate storage. A small reduction in pressure can mean a significant reduction in real losses through leaks. (read more)
- Water and Waste Water Treatment Advice
Wide Bay Water Corporation's environmental engineers and scientists have applied and broadened their skills on projects throughout the Southern Pacific area. We have developed solutions to prevent, minimise or treat water pollution (including acid drainage and turbidity), based on site and cost limitations. This experience has led to the development of our unparalleled ability to devise and implement practical solutions for water quality problems - no matter how difficult or remote the location.
