Wide Bay Water Corporation is the first local government owned corporation in
Queensland, providing water and wastewater services to the city of Hervey Bay.
The corporation is wholly owned by Fraser Coast Regional Council (FCRC) and governed
by an independent Board of Directors working under the Queensland Local
Government Owned Corporations Act.
Wide Bay Water Corporation also undertakes the planning, development and operation of water distribution infrastructure in the collection, distribution and disposal of water. As part of this work, Wide Bay Water Corporation has become nationally and internationally recognised in the forefront of water loss prevention and distribution management. Wide Bay Water Corporation is also recognised nationally as a leader in the development of land based water reuse facilities predominantly to improve crop productivity to the advantage of local farmers.
Wide Bay Water Corporation provides water and Sewage services to Hervey Bay and the townships of Burrum Heads, Howard, Toogoom, River Heads and works with other Local Governments and water authorities through a range of partnership consulting and other business models.
Hervey Bay has been in the top ten fastest growing regions in Australia for the last decade. The high population growth has required pro-active management of assets and in particular the efficient and effective transportation of sewage.
 Wide Bay Water Corporation owns and operates two (2) dams, two (2) water treatment plants and six (6) sewage treatment plants. In recent years Wide Bay Water Corporation have managed the process design, tender specification, construction and commissioning of new sewage treatment facilities at Burrum Heads and Toogoom.
This also included negotiation of the development approval and operating licence conditions with the EPA. The Wide Bay Water Corporation Team has also managed significant upgrades and augmentations to existing sewage treatment plants and expansion of the two major effluent reuse schemes.
Wide Bay Water Corporation provides a very experienced team of people who have had wide knowledge and understanding in the design and operation of sewage treatment plants ranging in size from 200 EP to 900,000 EP involving conventional treatment and advanced technologies including Biological Nutrient Removal and UV Disinfection.
Wide Bay Water Ccorporation has an integrated quality management system based on HACCP for water treatment and distribution, ISO 14001 for wastewater collection, treatment and effluent reuse, an accredited QA System for external engineering services and a NATA registered laboratory.
