Tips for saving water around your home
Wide Bay Water Corporation continuously promotes and encourages water conservation throughout the community. For ideas to save water why not try some of these?
- While shaving half fill the sink with warm water instead of leaving the tap running; you’ll actually save 3,500 litres of water a year.
- Place frozen food in the fridge to defrost overnight rather than using running water.
- Did you know that in the shower, time is water- every minute less spent in the shower saves between 30 and 60 drinking glasses of water.*
- Using the half-flush on the toilet will be quite enough for most of the time. Doing this will save almost half the amount of water that normally goes down the drain.
- Using a AAA rated shower rose can save up to 114,000 glasses of drinking water each year.
- The average front loading washing machine uses only half as much water as the average top loading washing machine
- Brushing your teeth with the tap running uses between 20 and 30 glasses of drinking water per minute. If you used a glass, how many glasses of water would it take to rinse your mouth?
*Based on standard 250 ml drinking glass
