Waterwise Basics

Let’s start at the beginning... if we change our habits – just a little bit we can become WATERWISE and make sure that EVERY DROP COUNTS. Its easy to be WATERWISE, it can save money and lots of ideas don’t cost anything to implement.

So let us be WATERWISE today by:Bill-sweeping

AROUND THE HOUSE

  • taking a shorter shower
  • turning off the tap when you don’t need the water
     – when brushing your teeth, shaving, rinsing vegetables or cleaning the sink
  • fix dripping taps and leaking pipes

AROUND THE YARD

  • using a broom rather than a hose to clean the driveway or paths and
  • washing your car with a bucket and trigger nozzle over a grassed area,

Let’s be WATERWISE this Spring by:

  • planting a water-efficient garden – selecting plants carefully, group them according to their water needs and mulch well,
  • watering your garden only when necessary – if the soil below the surface is still damp the plant is unlikely to need water and
  • fewer, deeper watering for your garden encourage deeper root systems and more robust plants.
