Wide Bay Water Corporation presently has a two part tariff which consists of a yearly levy and a consumption charge. The yearly levy is for all properties that have connected water or properties that are within 92 meters of a trunk water main. Water meters are read three times per year, approximately 4 months apart and accounts issued on a continuing basis. The consumption charge is currently $1.05 per kilolitre. (read more)

In the late 1980’s, population and tourism growth in Hervey Bay had created the need for more sewage treatment facilities. The Environmental Protection Agency would not permit the extra treated sewage to be discharged to local creeks that flow into the bay - an ocean outfall was required. However, in a community where tourism relies on preserving the pristine waters of the region, any impact on the bay was considered unacceptable.
The challenge was to find an environmentally responsible solution that was both economically viable and acceptable to the residents of Hervey Bay. The result is a land-based effluent disposal system that has not only protected the waters of the region, but has also delivered dividends for local farmers, the Council and ratepayers. (read more)
- Rainwater Tank Information
Wide Bay Water is an active supporter of WaterWise initiatives and supports the Queensland Government’s Home WaterWise Rebate Scheme which offers Queensland residents the opportunity to receive up to $1000 rebate for a rainwater tank purchase and installation.
Now that the Queensland Government Scheme has been extended to Hervey Bay City residents, Wide Bay Water has resolved to withdraw its Policy to rebate $100 for eligible rainwater tank purchases and installations from the 31st January 2007 to enable better allocation of funds towards local Sustainable Water Solution initiatives.
